I laughed and cried on New Years Eve

I always laugh when I go to a flea market. I laugh with expectation when we drive up and see thousands of cars and great crowds of people like a white harvest field. I laugh with joy when people ask questions as we witness and end up believing on Jesus as their savior. Last Saturday, New Years Eve, as I neared our booth, I laughed out loud to see our workers giving out scriptures as fast as they could.
When they told me they had to catch their ride to Matamoros at 2 O’ clock, I sat down to rest my “new”knee. When they left and I was alone, I stood up and gave out several hundred scriptures until my leg pain made me sit down.  I continued to give out a few to those on the edge of the crowds, but for two hours hundreds of people passed by without receiving scriptures.
To say the least, I was frustrated and ready to cry. I felt like a soldier without a weapon and a fireman without any water! Then I felt sorrow for God’s people and Churches. So many Christians say, ‘sinners will not take a tract nor listen to the gospel message anymore!’ I wanted  to shout out,’ Then go to somewhere in your area where they will hear! There is such a place, because Jesus ordered us to GO, and SOW, not stay and play! The farmer must leave the house and take the seed out of the barn if he wants a crop!’ Dear Christian , no farmer ever had more precious SEED or a greater field than we have today! Politicians are filling the air with promises they cannot fulfill. Let’s fill sinners ears with God’s promises that cannot fail!

Can you have a “real” Christmas?                     Dec, 2011

Yes, but first we must know what a “real” Christmas is. Most people are so orientated by the commercially driven media that this generation has lost understanding of what Christmas is about.   Snow, sleigh bells, a partridge in a pear tree, the little drummer boy and chestnuts roasting in the fire are now the most recognized symbols of Christmas. Everything that is enjoyable is said to be “Christmas cheer”, even if it is sinful debauchery and mocks the Christ of “true” Christmas. Everyone laughs and says “Merry Christmas” when an advertiser raffles off a “Christmas” trip to Las Vegas and “Holiday” beer is advertised as brewed specially for the season!

More than anything else, our practice of gift giving tells how disconnected from the real Christmas we have become. --YES, THE REAL CHISTMAS IS ABOUT GIVING:-- But not about giving out of our abundance in order to please someone’s desires.

REAL CHRISTMAS GIVING IS ABOUT:

-        God GAVE His ONLY begotten Son to supply every sinners greatest need.

-        Jesus GAVE his life as a sacrifice to pay for that gift.

-        Angels, shepherds, wise men, and all who believed, ran to GIVE the good news.

-        DON’T MISS THE REAL CHRISTMAS. – GIVE SOMEONE THE MESSAGE TODAY.

Border Bonanza !

Last Sunday, sixteen days after my knee replacement, I wanted to go and encourage our fellow-workers at the Brownsville flea market. I couldn’t stand very long on my feet, but wanted to get started back sowing with the team.

I found Bro. Juan Zapada and others passing out Scriptures and witnessing to all who would listen. Before I could sit down, Bro. Ediberto Nunez and his wife Nancy greeted me with a hug. They graduated from our Bible Institute in 1984 and have worked in Arkansas ever since. We had blessed fellowship as they told of others saved and trained in Matamoros who now serve the Lord in the U.S.A. They took Scriptures to distribute and left addresses of others who wanted to help sow the Word.

My limited‘standing time’ had run out, but before I could get in the car a man and his wife stopped me. They were from southern Mexico and introduced themselves as ‘Christians who love to give out God’s Word’. They told me how scarce Gospel literature is in their area. After writing down their address and promising to regularly send Scripture, we prayed together for their people.

As I left rejoicing, I wanted to tell everyone about this BORDER BONAZNA!

Thank You for Praying

-----Prayer Can Do What God Can Do -----
“Pray ye one for another, that ye may be healed” ----James 1:16
Today, ten days after knee replacement surgery, I propped my leg up on our flea market table. Our fellow helpers gathered to praise our faithful Lord and ask for continued healing. I reminded them that, -“Jesus sent His Word and healed them”—so , let’s continue sending the Word!
While I am slowed down, we will develope plans for more teams in more border areas waiting to receive the Word. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A ‘wheel’ turns, but doesn’t go anywhere. Some religious people are content to just be ‘busy’, turning ! Some even put their written prayers on wheels and watch them turn around. What empty pretence! God’s children should be busy GOING to give others the written message of the Gospel, and then,”COMING boldly to the throne of grace –“for their salvation.
Do you hear a ‘grinding noise’ in your religion?

Time is running out--it is more and more difficult each momth to get them over---our 'good' problem is that most all we are getting over are soon given out
in Matamoros or sent to other places in Mexico! TWO QUESTIONS ARE BEFORE US EVERY DAY:
WHY ARE WE SO FAR BEHIND?----HOW CAN WE CATCH UP?
We can sit and reflect on the first---or get up and GO to answer the second---TELL SOMEONE TODAY; 'ALL YOUR DEBT IS PAID!'

Whitened Fields

Dear Christian Friends,
I’m reporting from the Mexican border where hundreds of markets and millions of open hands still wait to receive the Word of God—and few workers are regularly going into them. Thank you, our partners, who go with us by your support and prayers.
Every time I describe this missionary opportunity, I want to challenge all of you to CONTACT EVERY MISSIONARY YOU KNOW—anywhere-- AND ASK IF THEY HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY (and liberty) TO GIVE OUT TEN THOUSAND (and more) OF SCRIPTURE PORTIONS ( with Gospel tracts) EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK!   If you find one, let me know----I want to challenge God’s people about that white field too!
I know that the missionaries, pastors and Churches on this border---some that you may support---- should be focusing on this door God has opened. Since only a few are doing so, let’s continue to “Pray to the Lord of the harvest, that He will thrust forth laborers into HIS harvest.” And let’s keep on sowing.

                                   GOING ALONE CAN BE FUN – SOMETIMES
‘GO – AND I WILL BE WITH YOU’
With this promise Jesus said we would never be alone when we go to tell the Gospel message. But I am talking about going alone without human company. Several times this week I had to go to the Border Flea Markets without any helpers. Each time was a special blessing.
At first, I would think of the ‘bad’ things that could happen – then I remembered that many ‘bad’ things happened before -- and most of them turned out to be exciting witnessing opportunities (Romans 8:28)--- then I could hardly wait for some ‘bad’ things to happen!
Well, today it was all good. While passing out Scriptures in the Weslaco Border Market this morning, six Mexican Pastors came to carry several boxes to distribute across the border. Several Christians carried an armload to give out in their neighborhoods. Thank you all who pray for God to keep these ‘funnels’ of eternal Truth open!
When I got home, someone asked if I went alone. I had to be honest and said, “No, there were 4 of us-- the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit were there!        Think about it!--If you go ‘alone’- and outside of religious ‘duty’-- to give the Gospel, you can expect a special fellowship with the Lord of the harvest! Your joy will challenge others more than all ‘preaching’, ‘rewarding’ and ‘rebuking’ can do !
